The Jan Kiepura Masovian Musical Theater in Warsaw was established in April 2005 by the decision of the Mazovia Provincial Assembly. Since the very beginning, it has been nurturing and continuing the mission of preserving the operetta genre on Warsaw’s stage. Some of the most important productions include: "Die Fledermaus", "The Merry Widow", "The Csardas Princess", "Countess Maritza".
A very important item in the Theater's repertoire are concerts organized periodically: since 2005, “The New Year’s Concerts”, which take place at the National Philharmonic, and “The Royal Concerts on Women’s Day” – organized since 2016, always on March 8 in the Great Hall of the Royal Castle. They are among the most important and recognizable musical events on the artistic map of Warsaw. "The New Year’s Concerts" is a musical feast, during which the greatest stars of Polish and international opera meet on one stage. "The Royal Concerts on Women’s Day" are unique musical meetings where the opera and operetta repertoire share the stage with the musical genre and contemporary music.
Since 2006, the Theater has been the organizer of the competition “The Jan Kiepura Theater Music Awards”. This is the only national competition that honors artists and creators associated with the theater and music community.
Receiving the Jan Kiepura statuette is the highest and most prestigious Polish distinction for the winners.

Since June 2019, the Theater's permanent seat is the building of the former Praha Movie Theater. Here, in 2020, 4 premieres took place, inaugurating the theater stage in the new seat: “In love with
the operetta” – a jubilee series of shows, which are a kind of mosaic combining elements of a concert with a presentation of fragments of well-known operettas by European and Polish artists; “A Brawl in Major-Minor” – a musical family how full of colors and action, with a moral, teaching tolerance and accepting differences; “How we love at home?” – a musical comedy-drama about the need and desire for intimacy, about love; "A horse would also write poems if you gave it a hundred bucks" – a verbal and musical performance based on the poetry of Konstanty Ildefons Gałczyński.

The 2020/2021 season was opened by the Polish premiere of Stephen Dolginoff’s play entitled: “Thrill me. The story of Leopold and Loeb” – a chilling musical that starts with the story of the legendary duo who committed one of the most notorious crimes of the 20th century in the twenties. At the end of the season, the Theater staged an operetta-musical performance entitled: “Blue Castle” – a touching story about longing, loneliness, and dreams, based on Lucy Maud Montgomery’s novel, with music written by Roman Czubaty, unprecedented in today's theaters.
Currently, in the 17th artistic season, the Theater has produced a unique theatrical production, the Polish premiere of a musical family performance based on the motifs of the 18th-century Masovian legend about the tragic history of the castellan of Liw – Marcin Kuczyński and his wife Ludwika – “The Yellow Lady – A Musical Legend”.
To commemorate the 120th anniversary of the birth of the Theater’s Patron, in May 2022, the Theater prepared two special events: a unique, collector’s exhibition dedicated to Jan Kiepura – prepared and compiled by Zbigniew Rymarz and Jarosław Wojciechowski entitled: “Jan Kiepura. A great fame – that’s a fact!” and the musical show entitled: “I sang for you...” directed by Beata Redo-Dobber.
At the same time, the Theater joined the “Cultural school in Mazovia” program initiated by the Mazovia Provincial Self-Government, which, by subsidizing tickets, makes it easier for children and teenagers to actively participate in the offer of Mazovian cultural institutions.
In addition to the rich offer of theater and music events, the Theater continues the activities of the Praha Movie Theater preserving the atmosphere of studio film screenings.
